Corporate Social Responsibility

Hellens’ reputation and success as a business relies on how we interact with our employees, clients, suppliers and the wider community. Hellens csr plan sets out how we will impact on a positive way on those around us. It focuses on 4 themes involved in the business:

Health & Safety
The Environment
Our People
The Community

Our commitment to being a responsible business is demonstrated by our management system accreditations: ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO 18001.

Health & Safety

We are committed to operating a positive and pro-active health & safety culture. It will be achieved by strong leadership and a systematic approach to health & safety management. We will motivate everyone involved to prevent accidents and promote long-term health and well being.

This will benefit our employees and also others affected by our work, such as our supply chain and members of the public.

Our People

We are an accredited Investor in People. The welfare of all employees is a top priority and we intend to improve the way we manage, recognise and reward them. During the implementation of the csr plan, feedback will be sought from employees and their ideas incorporated. We will highlight the extraordinary things that our people do every day and give them the recognition that they deserve.

Central issues will be:

  • Exploring new initiatives to improve the workplace
  • Improving communication between all of our people
  • Developing greater job satisfaction for all employees

Community

The Community

The nature of our work inherently improves the lives of the surrounding community. From historic park regeneration to brownfield site remediation, we always leave a positive mark on the local environment. We will use the guiding principles of the Considerate Constructors Scheme to our plan and ensure we achieve our goal of being a ‘good neighbour’.

Through this plan we will ensure that:

  • We give something extra back to the people living in the community around us
  • We minimise disruption to communities during construction
  • We encourage employees to get involved in good causes
  • We actively contribute to the local economies in which we work
