Hellens Group has announced the appointment of David West as Group Technical Manager.
The North East land and property developer, which has offices in Washington and Stockton, has made the appointment in preparation for its Burtree Garden Village project – a significant development in Darlington, which will see the construction of 2,000 new homes and substantial employment space over the next 20 years.
David West joins Hellens Group with extensive experience in civil engineering and project management in the region. His most recent roles include engineering manager at Lovell Homes NE and engineering manager at Avant Homes NE, where he handled the end-to-end management of housing projects. His career began at Banks Property Ltd, where he progressed from graduate development engineer to development engineer, managing large-scale developments and working closely with local authorities.
West holds a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Teesside University, graduating with First Class Honours. His technical expertise and leadership experience will be crucial as Hellens Group embarks on the ambitious Burtree Garden Village project.
The appointment is part of Hellens Group’s broader strategy to expand its team in line with the demands of the Burtree Garden Village development. The project, a collaboration between Hellens Group and Homes England, is designed with a strong emphasis on sustainability. It will include 2,000 homes, 200,000 square metres of employment space, and extensive green infrastructure, supported by a £43 million investment from Homes England.
This strategic growth in Hellens Group’s team underscores the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, sustainable communities. West’s leadership will be vital in ensuring the successful delivery of the Burtree Garden Village project, which is set to significantly enhance the growth and sustainability of the Darlington area.
